When the corneal epithelium is damaged, the tear film cannot form stably over the affected area. Inflammatory responses also impair tear secretion, leading to the development of dry eye disease.
Corneal nerves play a critical role in maintaining tear film homeostasis by monitoring the condition of the cornea and tear film and regulating physiological responses. Therefore, dysfunction of the corneal nerves can further aggravate dry eye disease.
By delivering transcutaneous microcurrent stimulation to the cornea and ocular surface, Nu Eyne’s technology promotes the recovery of damaged corneal epithelial tissue and restores corneal nerve function, helping to improve dry eye disease and other corneal disorders.
